Dani Klein Modisett is the Founder and CEO of Laughter On Call, whose mission is to create connection through shared laughter.
Klein Modisett's entrepreneurial journey started when she hired a comedian to lift the spirits of her mother, who was depressed and isolated facing Alzheimer’s. It worked so well in improving the quality of her mother's life that she retained the comedian for eight hours every week. After writing an article about her experience for AARP, hundreds of requests for comedians for loved ones flooded into Klein Modisett's inbox. The seed of a business idea was born.
Laughter On Call now teaches workshops for healthcare workers and families sharing simple comedian’s tools to help create connection and bring comic relief, and has held over 500 virtual and in-person events for businesses, schools and families across the globe, including Amazon, Meta, Bristol Myers Squibb and Capital One. It is now a case study for Harvard Business School and has also been invited to run workshops at Stanford, MIT, Columbia, Duke and Dartmouth. The company has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, London Times, and AARP; Klein Modisett herself was recognized by Forbes on their "50 Over 50" list.
Before founding Laughter On Call, Klein Modisett mostly worked as a comedian and taught stand-up at UCLA for a decade. She is the author of two books on the importance of laughter in family life, “Take My Spouse, Please” and “Afterbirth…Stories You Won’t Read in a Parenting Magazine.”
