Creflo Dollar Biography
Creflo Augustus Dollar Jr. is an American pastor, televangelist, and author known for his influence in contemporary Christian ministry. Dollar is the founder of the non-denominational World Changers Church International, based in College Park, Georgia. He also leads Creflo Dollar Ministries and the Creflo Dollar Ministerial Association, and has been a significant figure in the Word of Faith movement, recognized for teaching prosperity theology. Dollar holds a bachelor's degree in education from West Georgia College, advanced degrees in counseling, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Oral Roberts University.
Dollar established World Changers Ministries in the cafeteria of an elementary school in College Park, Georgia, with eight people in attendance. The ministry, later renamed World Changers Church International, expanded its vision and congregation, eventually moving into the World Dome, an 8,500-seat facility reportedly built without bank financing. The church has reported tens of thousands of members and significant annual revenue. Dollar expanded his ministry beyond Georgia, leasing the Loews Paradise Theater in the Bronx for a church facility in New York.
His television broadcast, "Changing Your World," reaches a global audience through online streaming, television, the Changing Your World Network, and social media platforms. Dollar also oversees Creflo Dollar Global Missions, which supports outreach programs in the United States and internationally, and the Creflo Dollar Ministerial Association, which provides mentorship for pastors and ministers.
Dollar has authored more than 30 books, including "The Transformative Power of Grace," "What's Missing...From Your Christian Foundation," and "The Radical Life of Grace." His works, such as "The Anointing to Live" and "Understanding God's Purpose for the Anointing," are distributed worldwide in various formats. Dollar is a frequent conference speaker, and his publications are widely referenced in Christian literature, offering practical insights into faith-based living.
Known for teachings on prosperity, faith, and grace, Dollar is a recognized figure in the Christian community, with influence extending across continents. In a notable public statement, Dollar renounced his previous teachings on tithing, acknowledging that he had misled people and clarifying that tithing is an Old Testament practice not applicable to New Testament believers. This revision of doctrinal positions has contributed to ongoing theological discussions within faith communities.
