Chris Mathers Biography
Chris Mathers is recognized in North America for his expertise in organized crime, money laundering, and cybersecurity. Mathers built his career through undercover work with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the US Customs Service. During his tenure, he posed as a gangster, drug trafficker, and money launderer, gaining direct experience in criminal operations. Mathers retired after a 20-year career with the RCMP, where he served as the senior undercover operator at the RCMP Proceeds of Crime Section. He established and operated several storefront money laundering businesses in Canada and the US, targeting Colombian, Russian, and Asian organized crime groups. Mathers infiltrated criminal organizations across North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe.
Mathers received the RCMP Long Service Medal and the Commanding Officer's Commendation for Exemplary Action. After his law enforcement career, he served as president of KPMG Corporate Intelligence Inc., leading international due diligence, asset recovery operations, and investigations into organized crime, money laundering, and terrorist financing. Mathers also completed an offshore asset tracing assignment for the Independent Inquiry Committee into the United Nations Oil-For-Food Programme in Iraq. He later founded Chris Mathers Inc., a private crime and risk consulting firm based in Toronto.
Mathers is the author of the bestseller "Crime School: Money Laundering," which explores the history and evolution of money laundering techniques. He has served as a consultant on feature films and documentaries related to organized crime, espionage, and money laundering, and has appeared in television and radio interviews on CNN, PBS, MSNBC, Canadian national news networks, and media outlets in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean. Mathers is also the host of "The Egyptian Job" on National Geographic Channel.
An expert in fraud investigation, Mathers has conducted research into the exploitation of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and voice cloning by criminal organizations, providing insights into advanced cybercrime techniques. As a speaker, Mathers addresses topics including security, hiring decisions, background checks, money laundering, corporate fraud, and the impact of artificial intelligence on crime prevention and proliferation. His experience in field operations, corporate intelligence, and media commentary positions him as a knowledgeable source on the realities of crime in the modern world.

Criminals are already using audio and video impersonation to defraud and extort us. Foreign governments are using AI to influence our political beliefs.
But, on the upside, AI can detect fraud, spam calls and phishing attempts much better than people can. It never sleeps; it won’t call in sick and it doesn’t work from home.
Join Chris Mathers as he shares the latest amazing advances in AI, describing how bad guys are using this amazing technology against us and how the good guys are using it to catch them.
