Barry Weiss Biography
Barry Weiss is an entrepreneur, antique collector, and reality television personality recognized for his role as The Collector on A&E's series "Storage Wars." Weiss began collecting antiques at age 15, developing expertise in identifying rare and unusual objects, which contributed to his prominence in the collectibles and reality TV industries.
Prior to his television career, Weiss worked in the wholesale produce industry, operating Northern Produce with his brother. The family business specialized in the import and export of fruits and vegetables in California. After more than 25 years in the trade, Weiss retired and shifted his focus to collecting antiques and memorabilia. He joined "Storage Wars" at the invitation of reality show producer Thom Beers, entering the world of storage locker auctions for the first time on camera.
"Storage Wars" quickly became a highly viewed series on A&E, with Weiss distinguishing himself through his unique style, humor, and use of distinctive vehicles, such as a customized Cadillac. Unlike other buyers on the show, Weiss often kept the items he discovered rather than reselling them. He was known for his creative approaches to evaluating storage lockers and occasionally enlisted friends, including Stewart Copeland of The Police, to appraise unusual finds. Weiss is also an avid motorcycle and classic car enthusiast. He experienced a serious motorcycle accident in Los Angeles, which required extensive medical treatment and recovery. Weiss eventually returned to "Storage Wars" in later seasons. Beyond television, he has served as a brand ambassador and regularly participates in automotive events, reflecting his passion for classic cars and motorcycles. With extensive knowledge in classic cars, antiques, war relics, and pop culture memorabilia, Weiss continues to be a prominent figure in the collecting and reality television communities.
