Augusto Vidaurreta Biography

Augusto Vidaurreta and Tom Richardson have founded and run numerous successful ventures since they both left Andersen Consulting 14 years ago. Vidaurreta is an entrepreneur, consultant, and author, having co-authored the book "Business Is A Contact Sport", which details the management strategy behind all of his business dealings.

Vidaurreta immigrated to the United States from Cuba at the age of 13 in 1968. His entry into the business world began at 17 when he embarked on a decade-long career with The Miami Herald Publishing Company, serving in various business capacities.

After spending four years at Andersen Consulting, Vidaurreta left in 1988 and co-founded The Systems Consulting Group (SCG), a comprehensive information systems consulting firm. Although SCG never sought external funding, it experienced rapid growth and was twice named by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest-growing 500 private companies. Under the leadership of Vidaurreta and partner Richardson, SCG reached high employee retention levels and claimed major corporations like Federal Express, NYNEX, and Burger King as clients. By 1995, SCG had expanded organically to 200 consultants across offices in Miami, Chicago, and San Juan. The firm was consistently profitable and in August 1995, Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) acquired SCG for $30 million in stock.

He served as Vice President at CTP until June 1998. During his tenure, Vidaurreta oversaw operations south of Washington, DC, east of Mississippi, and in Latin America. He also initiated the Latin American division for CTP, where the combined organizations amassed over 300 consultants and generated about $45 million in annual revenue.

Vidaurreta is actively involved in various business ventures, including part-ownership in P&O Packaging, a plastics company, and Hardaway's Firehouse Four, a prominent Miami restaurant. He is also a co-founder of Entente Investment, later renamed Adjoined Consulting, an IT and general consulting firm that has quickly grown to 190 consultants with offices in major cities including Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, and Mexico City.
