Three Dog Night Biography
Three Dog Night, a rock band formed in 1967, has left an indelible mark on the music industry. With 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, three of which reached number one, the group has consistently demonstrated their musical prowess. The band introduced mainstream audiences to an array of talented songwriters such as Randy Newman, Paul Williams, Laura Nyro, and Hoyt Axton. Three Dog Night's official debut was made in 1968 at the Whisky a Go Go, and their first album, "Three Dog Night," featuring hit songs like "Nobody", "Try A Little Tenderness", and "One," was a resounding success. They further widened their reach when they hosted and performed on the inaugural edition of "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in December 1972.
Three Dog Night has continued to innovate and evolve over the years, releasing a diverse range of albums and collaborations. In May 2002, they released an album with The London Symphony Orchestra and a DVD titled "Three Dog Night Live With the Tennessee Symphony Orchestra". Their album "The 35th Anniversary Hits Collection Featuring The London Symphony Orchestra" in October 2004 included live versions of popular songs like "Eli's Coming," "Brickyard Blues," "Try a Little Tenderness," and "Family of Man". The band also released "Three Dog Night Greatest Hits Live" in 2008, a compilation of live recordings, and introduced three new songs "Heart of Blues," "Prayer of the Children," and "Two Lights In The Nighttime" in 2009. As of 2021, the band has been working on a new album featuring the new song "Prayer of the Children".
Despite the changes in lineup over the years, Three Dog Night has remained a relevant figure in rock and pop music. They were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000 and their current lineup as of 2021 includes Danny Hutton on vocals, David Morgan on vocals, Paul Kingery on guitar and vocals, Pat Bautz on drums, Timothy Hutton on bass and vocals, and Howard Laravea on keyboards. Their extensive discography, including hits like "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)" and "Black & White," continues to be celebrated.
