Susan Mangiero, CFA, MBA, MFA, PhD is a 20+ year veteran of the financial services, financial technology, investment management, and insurance industries. Her extensive record of publications and corporate training work reflects Susan's ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms and clarify why a particular topic is important for an information user to know.

She is an active member of professional organizations including the American Society of Business Publication Editors, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of Ghostwriters, Authors Guild, CFA Institute, National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Professional Speechwriters Association, Society of Professional Journalists, The Association of Business Journalists, and The Society for Editing. In July 2022, Susan completed an MFA in Creative & Professional Writing with a concentration in journalism and marketing. Her MFA thesis examines corporate brand storytelling techniques, the psychology of marketing, and the importance of trust in communications.

Susan wrote more than 1,000 blog posts for Pension Risk Matters, a seminal investment blog that ran from 2006 to 2017. In 2008, Pensions & Investments recognized her excellent writing with an award for "best blog." Her publications include 2 books, 50+ articles, 100+ workshop presentations, and chapters in 4 business books of edited readings. She is co-editor of a financial newsletter for Elsevier's Social Science Research Network, the Pension Risk Management e-Journal. Susan is a 2024 Azbee Awards of Excellence Regional Gold Award winner (Category: All Content - Impact/Investigative), sponsored by the American Society of Business Publication Editors, for her article about the growing problem of investment fraud.

Susan understands the importance of teamwork in setting goals, identifying the needs of information end-users, and producing deliverables on time, and within budget. During her career in finance, Susan worked as a derivatives/currency/bond trader, fixed income trader, compliance risk manager, fiduciary expert, investment manager, educator, consultant, data analyst, and digital content management start-up entrepreneur. She has a unique perspective about how successful companies sell products and services. Her industry experience includes projects with technology developers, asset managers, valuation professionals, institutional and retail insurance company marketing teams, corporate treasurers, attorneys, U.S. and international regulators, policymakers, certification training organizations, and universities.

In addition to her MFA in Creative & Professional Writing, Susan earned a PhD in finance, an MBA in finance, and an M.A. in Economics. Susan is a CFA charterholder and Certified Fraud Examiner. Susan completed the 2023 Beat Academy, sponsored by the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
