Steph Littlebird Biography
Steph Littlebird is an artist, author, curator and enrolled member of Oregon’s Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes. Littlebird is known for her vibrant graphic imagery that combines traditional styles of her Indigenous ancestors with contemporary illustration aesthetics. Her public lectures and writing work often examine issues related to Native identity, cultural resilience and going beyond land acknowledgments.
Littlebird’s first children’s book, "My Powerful Hair," published in 2023, made in collaboration with New York Times bestselling Indigenous author Carole Lindstrom, earned the 2024 Carter G. Woodson Book Award. Her author debut, “You Are the Land,” will release with Penguin publishing in Spring 2026.
Littlebird has been commissioned by brands like Lucasfilms/Star Wars, Yahoo, Luna Bar and featured by media outlets such as PBS News, NPR and ArtNews. She earned her BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.
