Sponge Cola Biography
Sponge Cola (sometimes spelled Spongecola) is a Filipino rock band formed in 2002. The group consists of vocalist‑guitarist Yael Yuzon, bassist Gosh Dilay, guitarist Armo Armovit, and drummer Tedmark Cruz.
Sponge Cola released new music in 2025 and scheduled performances for late 2025, including a return to Singapore. The Filipino band continues to release new songs and perform live, demonstrating their enduring presence in the music scene. The band released a double single in early 2025, with the new song "Liwanag" and a reimagined version of "Laman ng Panaginip" (now "LNP").
Widely regarded as one of the Philippines’ most popular rock acts, Sponge Cola has released numerous hit singles, including “Jeepney,” “KLSP,” “Gemini,” “Bitiw,” “Tuliro,” “Di Na Mababawi,” “Tambay,” “Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay,” and “XGF.” The band’s debut album, Palabas, appeared in 2004, followed by Transit (2006) and the self‑titled Sponge Cola (2008), the latter marking the final appearance of original drummer Chris Cantada. In total, Sponge Cola has issued eight full‑length albums and several EPs; the eighth album, Hometown, was released on December 14, 2022.
