Sean Payton, a seasoned name in the NFL, currently serves as the head coach for the Denver Broncos. Prior to his tenure with the Broncos, Payton significantly impacted the New Orleans Saints from 2006 to 2021, leading them to their first Super Bowl victory in 2009 and securing seven division titles under his leadership. His leadership contributed to the Broncos securing the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs in the 2025 season.
An author as well as a coach, Payton penned "Home Team: Coaching the Saints and New Orleans Back to Life," which debuted at number 8 on The New York Times non-fiction bestseller list. His ability to lead the Saints to their first playoff appearance in six years post-Hurricane Katrina was a defining moment in his career. Moreover, his decision to start the second half of Super Bowl XLIV with a surprise onside kick is still considered one of the most daring plays in Super Bowl history.
In 2023, he joined an elite group of head coaches in NFL history, becoming the eighth to defeat all 32 teams in the league. His influence was also apparent in the NFL's decision to temporarily make pass interference calls reviewable, a testament to his impact on the game.
