Roy Schoenberg Biography
Dr. Roy Schoenberg is a physician-entrepreneur recognized for his role in advancing telehealth and digital healthcare delivery in the United States. Schoenberg completed his medical training at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and participated in the Harvard-MIT Fellowship Program in Clinical Informatics. He also earned a Master of Public Health in healthcare management from the Harvard School of Public Health. Prior to founding his company, Schoenberg served as a senior associate at the Center for Clinical Computing at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, where he developed expertise at the intersection of medicine and technology.
Schoenberg co-founded Amwell with Ido Schoenberg, introducing telehealth technology that connects patients and providers through video and asynchronous communication. The company initially focused on improving healthcare access in underserved areas. Under Schoenberg's leadership, Amwell became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker AMWL, serving major health systems, health plans, and employers, and supporting digital healthcare for millions of patients and thousands of clinicians.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Schoenberg collaborated with payers, providers, and regulators to maintain healthcare delivery through technology, expanding the Amwell platform to reach a global audience.
