Lacey Schwimmer Biography
Lacey Schwimmer is a professional ballroom dancer and multiple youth championships winner best known for her participation on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.
Starting in 2008, Schwimmer was announced as the former contestant of So You Think You Can Dance who was cast as a regular on Dancing with the Stars. Landing a third-place finish with former 'N Sync member, Lance Bass, on the show's 7th season, Lacey returned for five more seasons. Dancing with stars Steve-O, Mark Dacascos, Kyle Massey, Mike Catherwood, and Chaz Bono, she reached achieved second-place in 2010.
Schwimmer is the cousin of David Schwimmer, a well-known cast member of the Emmy Award-winning TV sitcom, Friends. Raised in a family of competitive dancers and the younger sister of So You Think You Can Dance second season champion, Benji Schwimmer, and daughter of West Coast Swing dancer, Buddy Schwimmer, she has been dancing competitively since she was young.
Schwimmer has garnered a number of awards, such as 1st place in the Youth U.S. National Swing Championships, and 1st place in the 2006 U.S. National Youth Latin Championships. Lacey says that she was inspired by her favorite professional dancer Cyd Charisse, especially after seeing her in the film Singin in the Rain. She joined the 2007 dance tour of the 2007 season top ten of So You Think You Can Dance. She classifies her techniques and dancing style as a mix of International Latin and West Coast Swing.
Schwimmers other awards include the top prize at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships; Young America Division (6-12 years) with Partner: Blace Thompson in 1998, then climbing an age group and still winning in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2007.
Schwimmer has also dabbled in the music industry, releasing her first official single, titled Love Soundz, in June 2011.
