Jim L. Mora Biography
Jim Mora Jr. currently holds the position of head coach at Colorado State University, a role he assumed in November 2025. His prior coaching roles span across multiple universities and the NFL, including head coach stints at the University of Connecticut and UCLA. Mora Jr. has amassed a notable coaching career record, boasting 73–53 in college football and 31–33 in the NFL. In 2004, he was awarded the NFC Coach of the Year, a testament to his coaching acumen and leadership.
Aside from his coaching career, Mora Jr. has also established himself in the broadcasting arena. He has lent his expertise to the NFL Network and Fox Sports as an analyst, providing color commentary for NFL coverage. After his departure from UCLA, he returned to broadcasting with ESPN's college football coverage in 2018. His dual career path has allowed him to gain a unique perspective on the sport, both on the field and in the commentary box.
Under Mora Jr.'s leadership, his teams have achieved notable successes. He guided the UCLA Bruins to a Sun Bowl win in 2013, followed by an Alamo Bowl win in 2014. His tenure at UConn marked several milestones, including the team's first bowl appearance since 2015 and their first bowl game win since 2009 in the Fenway Bowl during the 2024 season. He was recognized for his efforts with awards from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, College Football Live, and UConn Huskies On SI, including being named Coach of the Year.
