You maybe 10, 21, 35, 50 years old and you have a passion for something. This may seem like a dream to you but if you can envision yourself doing it, then why is it a dream? Why can't you just work your way into doing it. I was crazy passionate for announcing games like the public address announcer. I would be at games as a fan, pretending I was working the game and announcing as the game went along, and announced everything I possibly could, and definitely annoying the fans around me. I spent years in the bleachers doing this, even up to the very last game I was a fan at Wrigley Field, three weeks before I was hired by the Chicago Cubs to do that very job. It may take you some time to get there, realistically, however, starting now will get you a lot closer to attain your dream and making it a reality.
No matter how cliché this saying is, it is also very much true. Why do you think so many famous musicians and actors seem to be working endlessly... that's just apart of their lifestyle and their career. They've worked so hard to get to that level, that it is their common work ethic. Just because I am now the Voice of Wrigley Field, that doesn't mean it stops there. It could but why would I want to stop there if I know that there is more for me to achieve out, to grow, to elevate my career. I have now challenged myself with where I am at now in my career to be a successful late night talk show host, which is a work in progress.
If you are having trouble figuring out what you want to do in life, that's ok you have time, but the fastest way to find out is assessing the things you already like to do in your everyday life. If you are surrounded by planes a lot and you travel frequently, get paid to do it by becoming a pilot, flight attendant, aircraft mechanic. You play basketball frequently, the NBA is possible, just know the type of training and work that it's going to take to make it. As a kid, I went to a lot of Chicago sporting events. I picked up announcing by listening to the powerful voices that echoed the speakers at the venue. I was fascinated by it, I wanted to do it, I made sure I will be doing it by actually doing it.
