David Paulison Biography
R. David Paulison is the Chairperson of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors and a longtime leader in emergency management and fire safety. He has served on the NFPA Board since 2015, including as First Vice Chair, and brings over four decades of experience in public safety to his role.
Paulison previously served as Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and as the U.S. Fire Administrator. At FEMA, he led efforts to strengthen disaster response and emergency preparedness. His career began with the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department, where he served for 30 years, rising from firefighter to Fire Chief in 1992.
