Antwan André Patton, better known as Big Boi, launched his music career as part of the renowned duo Outkast. His impressive career, dating back to 1992, has seen him collect three Grammy Awards and launch a successful solo career. His debut solo album, "Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty" hit the shelves in 2010, followed by "Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors" in 2012 and "Boomiverse" in 2017. Big Boi's versatility is further demonstrated through his collaborations, notably with Phantogram under the name Big Grams, which yielded an extended play in 2015.
Paton's multidisciplinary presence in the entertainment industry has seen him extend his talents to acting, with roles in film and television. He made significant appearances in the 2018 remake of "Super Fly" as Mayor Atkins and in the 2019 movie "The Bobby DeBarge Story" as Berry Gordy. His television roles span various shows, including "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Star." Notably, Big Boi was part of the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in 2019, and his track "All Night" from "Boomiverse" featured in a 2017 Apple iPhone X commercial. In 2023, Big Boi had the honor of presenting Kate Bush at her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Outside of his entertainment pursuits, Big Boi has demonstrated a commitment to community service. In 2006, he co-founded the Big Kidz Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Atlanta that focuses on youth development through arts and education. The City of East Point, Georgia, recognized his contribution to his community in 2021 when it awarded him the Global Icon Award and the Key to the City. In 2023, it also acknowledged his enduring influence on the music industry when it inducted him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
