Auli'i Cravalho's career in the entertainment industry began with a significant debut as the voice of the title character in the Disney animated musical film "Moana" in 2016. A role she reprises in the sequel. This role brought her multiple nominations and wins, including the Best Animated Female award at the Alliance of Women Film Journalists Awards and Outstanding Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production at the Annie Awards, both in 2017. Since then, Cravalho has continued to make her mark on screen with roles in the NBC drama series "Rise" in 2018, the Netflix drama "All Together Now" in 2020, the supernatural comedy "Darby and the Dead" in 2022, and the Amazon Prime Video sci-fi series "The Power" in 2023. She is also part of the cast of the Disney Channel animated series "Hailey's On It!" and played the role of Janis in the 2024 movie adaptation of the Broadway musical "Mean Girls."
In addition to her acting career, Cravalho has demonstrated a commitment to academia and social issues. She announced in June 2021 that she had been accepted into Columbia University and plans to major in environmental science. In April 2020, she publicly identified as bisexual, and she has used her platform to advocate for peace, as demonstrated by her signing an open letter calling for a ceasefire during the 2023 Israel-Hamas war. Cravalho has also shown resilience in her personal life, managing her Ehlers-Danlos syndrome while continuing to thrive in her professional and academic pursuits.
