Ada Limón Biography
Ada Limón served as the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States. Her signature project, "You Are Here," explored how poetry can connect individuals to the natural world.
Limón is the author of six poetry books, including "The Carrying," which received the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her book "Bright Dead Things" was nominated for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. "The Hurting Kind" was shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize.
Limón wrote a poem selected for engraving on NASA's Europa Clipper Spacecraft, which is scheduled to travel to Jupiter's second moon.
Limón holds an MFA from New York University and has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, and Kentucky Foundation for Women. Her poetry has appeared in publications including New Yorker, Harvard Review, Pleiades, and Barrow Street. Limón has been recognized with a MacArthur Fellowship and was named by TIME Magazine as one of its Women of the Year.
