The Verve Pipe is a rock band from East Lansing, Michigan formed in 1992 by Brian and Brad Vander Ark, Brian Stout and Donny Brown.
The band released their debut album, “I've Suffered a Head Injury,” in 1992 and began playing local college towns and building up a strong following. Stout left the band before the release of their second offering, “Pop Smear,” in 1993, which secured them a record deal with RCA Records in 1995. The album featured the popular tracks, “Spoonful of Sugar” and “Victoria."
Stout was replaced by A.J. Dunning on guitar, where he remained for the three forthcoming albums on RCA. The Verve Pipe's major label debut, “Villains,” arrived in 1996 and spawned the moderate hits, “Photograph” and “The Freshmen,” which peaked at #5 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart.
The band's 1999 self-titled second album for RCA did not attain the commercial success of its predecessor. 2001 saw the band put out their third album, “Underneath,” which produced the singles “Colorful” and “Happiness Is.” 2009 brought the album, “A Family Album” and a series of performances at small venues in Michigan and along the East Coast.
