Trevor Bayne Biography
Trevor Bayne is an American professional stock car racing driver, broadcaster, and motorsports executive recognized for becoming the youngest driver in history to win the Daytona 500. Bayne began his racing career in go-karts at age 5, spending eight years in the discipline and earning three world championships, more than 300 feature wins, and 18 state and track titles. He later moved to the Allison Legacy Race Series, where he secured the national championship and became the youngest top rookie in series history, achieving 14 wins, 19 pole positions, and 30 top-five finishes in 41 starts.
Bayne advanced through NASCAR, driving for Wood Brothers Racing and winning the Daytona 500 in only his second career Cup Series start, the day after his 20th birthday. This victory also marked Ford Motor Company's 600th NASCAR win. Bayne competed full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, making 187 starts across nine seasons and earning victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. His career included participation in multiple national series, highlighting his versatility in motorsports.
Bayne faced significant challenges, including a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis following his Daytona 500 win. After evaluation at Mayo Clinic, he was cleared by doctors and NASCAR to continue racing. Bayne has spoken publicly about his diagnosis and continued to compete, maintaining his presence in the sport.
Transitioning from full-time competition, Bayne joined FOX Sports as a NASCAR analyst, contributing to coverage of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Cup Series prerace programming. He also became Head of Driver Optimization at Legacy Motor Club, preparing drivers for competition. Bayne later joined the NASCAR on Prime Video broadcast team as a pit reporter, sharing his racing expertise with fans. He continues to make occasional returns to the track as a part-time competitor.
