Treger Strasberg Biography
Treger Strasberg is a social entrepreneur, Emmy-nominated television host, and founder of Humble Design, a national nonprofit organization focused on supporting individuals and families emerging from homelessness. Strasberg launched Humble Design after moving to Detroit and witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by families transitioning out of homelessness. Drawing on her background in advertising, marketing, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, as well as a nonprofit management certificate from Harvard, Strasberg developed an organization dedicated to providing practical solutions to homelessness through interior design and community engagement.
Humble Design assists families transitioning from homeless shelters by transforming empty living spaces into clean, dignified, and welcoming homes using repurposed household goods. The organization has furnished thousands of homes and served thousands of individuals, including veterans and survivors of domestic abuse. Humble Design operates in multiple states and maintains a high success rate for families remaining in their homes after receiving support, contributing to efforts to break the cycle of homelessness in the United States.
Strasberg co-hosts the television series "Welcome Home," which documents her work with Humble Design and the process of helping families create stable home environments. She has received two Emmy Award nominations for her work on the show. Strasberg has also appeared as a guest on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," "The Rachael Ray Show," ABC, CNN, and Upworthy, and is active as a public speaker and author.
Strasberg's work has been recognized with honors such as ABC World News Person of the Week, Volunteer of the Year in Michigan, Woman of Distinction in California, IIDA Business Innovator, TCH Diversity Award, Lighthouse Salute America Award, Optimist Club's Ruby Award, Girl Scout of America's One Tough Cookie Award, Make Your Marc Award by Marc Fisher, and Oakland County Executive's 40 Under 40. She has served on boards including the Detroit Zoo, The Norman Yatooma Foundation, and the Executive Committee of the Michigan Democratic Party. Strasberg continues to represent Humble Design in national media and research, advocating for social entrepreneurship and humanitarian design with a philosophy centered on empathy and dignity.
