The Working Title Biography

For such a young band, The Working Title are wasting no time. At the tender ages of 19 to 22, the boys have developed a startlingly mature sound with a penchant for melody, heady arrangements, and emotionally charged vocals from lead singer Joel Hamilton .

Together only two months when the quartet self-produced an 8-song demo in order to sate its hungry fans, now only 9 months later, the band has released a new EP which they consider their “first real release.” The EP titled Everyone Here Is Wrong , has rapidly gained the band attention from the press with Alternative Press naming the group a “ Band to Watch in 2004 ” and Performing Songwriter including them in their 2004 “ Hot Picks ”. Also included on the EP, the song “Beloved” appeared on last summer's American Wedding soundtrack and in the movie.

With the release available digitally exclusively through iTunes and in stores throughout the U.S., the band is hitting the road for a two month cross country tour with bands Mae (Tooth & Nail) and Copeland (Militia Group).

Since 1999 during his punk rock days, lead vocalist and primary songwriter Joel Hamilton (age 19) has been forging tunes rife with heavy guitar and overt melodies. Once Adam Pavao (guitar, 21), Ross Taylor (drums, 19), and Chris Ginn (bass, 22) entered the picture and The Working Title was created, songwriting became a quintessential process with all four contributing to the compositions.

The band quickly built a die-hard audience in the Southeast over the past year as well as area press attention. As the Charleston City Paper noted, “Much of The Working Title's recent success is due to the band's loyal and ever-growing fan base. Having drawn crowds of more than 600 people, many of The Working Title's fans already know its songs well enough to sing along at the tops of their lungs at shows.”

And fans weren't the only ones sitting up and taking notice early on. With only a handful of performances under their belts, both major and indie record label reps started showing up to experience The Working Title's live set. Everyone Here Is Wrong , was released in late 2003 by Los Angeles based indie Redemption Records . The CD was recorded at Tree Studios with up-and-coming producer Rick Beato with additional production by Grammy nominated producer Kevin Law and Carl Nappa at the Hit Factory in NYC. A full length CD is slated to be released this year on Universal Records.
