Ricky Gunn Biography
Ricky Gunn is as southern and as country as they come. Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, Ricky has always known that song writing, singing and playing his guitar was what he was meant to do with his life. At age 15 his grandpa gave him his first guitar and taught him how to play three chords. The seed was planted and Ricky’s dream to write his own music and start his own band became a fast reality. Highly influenced by the sounds of Hank Williams, Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings and several other pop artists, Ricky simplisticly incorporates a combination of these styles to produce his own endearing and authentic sound and lyrics.
At age 19, Ricky placed in the Top Ten of 360 contestants on Atlanta Georgia’s version of Nashville Star. After that he traveled to Nashville to record his first genuine demo, which eventually led him to touring as a front man for many different bands. Fast forward to 2011 where Ricky was voted the Best Male Artist in the Georgia Country Music Awards. Then in 2012 Ricky won Best Male Country Artist in the Georgia Music Awards. It was in late 2011 that Ricky caught the attention of an Atlanta based producer who found Ricky’s “Home Style” videos on YouTube. He was especially intrigued by this very real and very authentic southern boy sitting in his kitchen singing his heart out and chatting up a storm with anyone who was listening. Ricky’s down-home charm, incredible voice, good looks and creative style were just what this producer was looking for. After the two connected, the chemistry was solidified and finally Ricky Gunn’s debut full length album titled, “King Of This Town,” was completed and was released in 2014.
Ricky is one of many successful artists to emerge from the Peach State in recent years. His fellow Georgia Country artists include Jason Aldean, Colt Ford, Brantley Gilbert, Luke Bryan, Corey Smith and Florida Georgia Line.
