Mother Mother Biography
Mother Mother is a well-known Canadian indie rock band based on Quadra Island, British Columbia. The band's members include Ryan Guldemond on guitar and vocals, Molly Guldemond and Jasmin Parkin on vocals and keyboard, Ali Siadat on drums, and Mike Young on bass. They independently released their self-titled debut album in 2005 under the name Mother and later rebranded to Mother Mother, re-releasing the album on Last Gang Records in 2007. Over the years, they have released numerous albums, including "O My Heart," "Eureka," "The Sticks," "Very Good Bad Thing," "No Culture," "Dance and Cry," "Inside," and "Grief Chapter."
The band has a robust discography, and each album marks a significant milestone in their musical journey. Their second album, "O My Heart," was released on September 16, 2008, and songs from this album went viral on TikTok in late 2020, a testament to their enduring appeal. Their seventh studio album, "Dance and Cry," was released in 2018, and their first single, "Get Up," was released in the same year. This was followed by a North American tour in 2019. Some of their most recognizable songs include "Hayloft," "Verbatim," "Burning Pile," and "Oh Ana."
Furthering their musical journey, in 2021, Mother Mother announced their eighth studio album, "Inside," which was released on June 25. This was accompanied by the single "Sick of the Silence" in the same year. They also announced the Canadian leg of the Inside tour, starting in December 2021 and ending in May 2022. Starting 2022 with a bang, they released the deluxe version of "Inside," including their latest single, "Life." Towards the end of the year, they released a holiday single titled "Cry Christmas." They also released their ninth album, "Grief Chapter," in 2024.
