Marlene Downing Biography
Marlene Downing is Pennsylvania's State Director for Susan B. Anthony Prolife America. Downing joined the field team in 2021 with a zeal for educating the masses about policies affecting the most vulnerable among us, the unborn.
Her compassion is highly linked to her own post-abortive experience in her younger years. In November of 2017, Downing had a change of heart. After working nearly a decade in corporate finance, she accepted a position to work as Director of Operations for the HOPE Pregnancy Center in the city of Philadelphia. It was there that her passion for the unborn exploded. She was led not only to counsel hundreds of women facing unplanned pregnancies but to reach a population of young people in the community with the message of purity. Downing organized annual youth purity conferences, healing conferences, and workshops to comfort and educate families. Downing ended her tenure at the PRC as Executive Director. She served this organization for four years.
Today, Downing publicly shares her own post-abortive story of how God changed her life and her view on abortion. From liberal to conservative, Downing now stands boldly for “Life” additionally as a media spokes-person and board member of the Pro-life Union of Greater Philadelphia, assisting with their mission to stop abortion in Philadelphia.
She is a mother of two and the author of “Strange Fruit Since 1973 Personhood rejected from the family tree”. The book is a thought-provoking call to compassion for human life.
