Mark Hoppus Biography
Mark Allan Hoppus is a bass guitarist, singer-songwriter, and a band member of blink-182 and +44. He is a record producer and television personality.
In June 2021, Hoppus publicly revealed his diagnosis of stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. After undergoing chemotherapy, he announced in September 2021 that he was cancer-free. This experience profoundly impacted his outlook on life and influenced his creative endeavors.
Hoppus authored a memoir titled "Fahrenheit-182," co-written with music journalist Dan Ozzi. The book chronicles his journey from a youth in California to international stardom with Blink-182, delving into personal challenges, band dynamics, and his battle with cancer.
Hoppus and Tom Delonge then formed Blink-182, which became one of the most popular bands of the 2000s. Blink-182 went on an indefinite hiatus in 2005, leading Hoppus to form the band +44 with fellow Blink-182 member Travis Barker. Blink-182 then announced their reformation in 2009.
Beyond Blink-182, Hoppus explored other musical projects. In 2005, during a hiatus of Blink-182, he formed the band +44 with drummer Travis Barker, releasing the album "When Your Heart Stops Beating" in 2006. Later, in 2019, he collaborated with Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low to create the duo Simple Creatures, releasing two EPs: "Strange Love" and "Everything Opposite."
