Kristen Wiig is an American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer known for her work on Saturday Night Live. After gaining experience with the Los Angeles comedy troupe The Groundlings, Wiig joined Saturday Night Live and became widely recognized for her comedic characters, including Penelope, Gilly, and Target Lady. During her seven-season tenure, she earned four Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Wiig transitioned from sketch comedy to film with her debut in Knocked Up, followed by roles in Adventureland, Extract, and Whip It. Her career reached a new level with the comedy Bridesmaids, which she co-wrote and starred in alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. The film earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Wiig continued to demonstrate her versatility by starring in the reboot of Ghostbusters and taking on dramatic roles in films such as The Skeleton Twins, Downsizing, and Where'd You Go, Bernadette.
In recent years, Wiig expanded her television work by starring in the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale, a period dramedy set in 1960s Palm Beach, where she plays an ambitious social climber navigating high society. In addition to her film and television work, Wiig has contributed to voice acting and production, including voicing Lucy in Despicable Me 3 and providing voice work for the Fox animated series Bless the Harts.
