Hwang Dong-hyuk is a South Korean film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for his work on critically acclaimed projects such as the film "Silenced" (2011) and the Netflix series "Squid Game" (2021–2025). His direction of the "Squid Game" episode "Red Light, Green Light" earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2022, making him the first South Korean to win an Emmy in the category of directing. His impactful film "Silenced" led to the reopening of a real-life case and influenced Korean legislation with the "Dogani Bill", highlighting his ability to create work that resonates deeply with audiences.
