Duff McKagan Biography
Duff McKagan, a seasoned musician best known for his role as a member of the band Guns N' Roses, made a mark in the rock and roll scene with his multifaceted contributions. In 2012, his musical prowess was officially recognized when Guns N' Roses was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to his role in Guns N' Roses, McKagan was a part of Velvet Revolver, a supergroup that won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. McKagan's personal musical journey also saw the formation of the hard rock band Loaded, where he served as lead vocalist and guitarist.
McKagan's creativity expanded beyond group projects, resulting in solo albums such as "Believe in Me" in 1993, where he sang lead vocals and played virtually every instrument. His commitment to music remained unwavering as he rejoined Guns N' Roses in 2016 and released another solo album, "Tenderness," in 2019. McKagan's versatility is evident in his collaborations with various artists, such as his performance as a rhythm guitarist with Alice in Chains during their reunion tour and his involvement in the new project Max Creeps, which released the album "Nein" in 2022.
McKagan's talents extend beyond the stage; he has established himself as a writer, contributing columns to Seattle Weekly, Playboy, and ESPN. He authored the autobiography "It's So Easy (And Other Lies)" in 2011 and another book titled "How to Be a Man: (and other illusions)" in 2015. Demonstrating his acumen for finance, he founded Meridian Rock, a wealth management firm for musicians, in 2011, after studying at Seattle University's Albers School of Business and Economics.
