David Rabadi Biography
David Rabadi was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. Of Jordanian descent, his family of first-generation immigrants hardly knew how to speak English. From an early age, Rabadi appreciated America as the Land of Opportunity where, if he worked hard enough, his dreams could come true. Rabadi pursued education, overcoming a sizable language barrier at a time when public school resources were limited. Evidence of his tremendous work ethic is clear in his mastery of the English language. He continued his pursuit of linguistic expression throughout college, with a BA in theater and mass communication from Lehman college.
After graduation, Rabadi used his education to earn a position as a journalist for online publications, The Hollywood Digest and Splash Worldwide, where he interviews authors, entertainment and fashion achievers. Rabadi is also a mental health speaker for high schools, universities and other organizations fighting the stigma surrounding mental illness. He’s also a bestselling author with his memoir “Live Your Truth”. As an LGBTQI advocate, he’s the first Jordanian in Yonkers to come out as gay. He uses his platform to encourage compassion, understanding, self-acceptance and self-love.

David talks frankly about his resistance to accepting that he is not only gay, but also suffers from the mental illness of bipolar disorder (formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression.) This mental illness causes unusual shifts in a person's mood, energy, activity levels, and concentration. After he accepted the truth of his condition – and began taking appropriate medication – he began to flourish both personally and professionally. He also accepted the fact that he is gay, despite the pressure from his Jordanian family to deny it.
Everyone is different but the truth of what David learned and will share applies to every single person in the audience: do NOT shy away from being honest with yourself.
