Charli XCX, an accomplished English singer and songwriter, gained prominence collaborating with the Swedish duo Icona Pop on the hit song "I Love It." She released her debut studio album, "True Romance," in 2013, marking her arrival into the world of international pop music. She further solidified her foothold in the industry by contributing to the song "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea, one of the best-selling singles worldwide in 2014. Her second studio album, "Sucker," released the same year, included successful singles like "Break the Rules" and "Doing It."
Continuing to explore new directions in her music, Charli XCX has worked with various producers to develop more experimental sounds and images. This experimentation has been well received, as her third and fourth studio albums, "Charli" and "How I'm Feeling Now," garnered widespread acclaim. In 2022, her fifth studio album, "Crash," marked a notable milestone in her career as it became her first number-one album in the UK and Australia. Notably, her 2024 release, "Brat," was her second UK number-one album and was named the best album of 2024 by Rolling Stone. A remix of "Brat" included the single "Guess" featuring Billie Eilish, which reached number-one on the UK Singles Chart. These successes testify to her continuous growth as an artist. "Brat" won Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 67th Grammy Awards, and "Von dutch" from the album won Best Dance Pop Recording. Charli's talent also extends to songwriting, and she has co-written songs for other artists, including Iggy Azalea's "Beg for It," Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love," Blondie's "Tonight," and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello collaboration "Señorita." She has also contributed to film soundtracks, notably providing the single "Speed Drive" for the 2023 film "Barbie." Her contributions to pop music were recognized in 2024 when she was awarded the ASCAP Global Impact Award and listed on the 2024 Gold House's most impactful Asian A100 list, becoming the first South Asian woman of British Indian origin to be honored.
