Arthur I. Miller Biography
Arthur I. Miller is Professor Emeritus of the History and Philosophy of Science at University College London. Originally a physicist, his research interests include creativity, the interplay between art and science, artificial intelligence, and theatre. His many critically acclaimed books include "Einstein, Picasso: Space, Time, and the Beauty that Causes Havoc," nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. His latest book is "The Artist in the Machine: The World of AI-Powered Creativity." A regular broadcaster and lecturer, he writes for The Guardian, The New York Times, Scientific American, Wired, Nautilus and The Spectator.
Miller's new play, "Synchronicity," recreates the intriguing encounters between the analyst Carl Jung and the brilliant but troubled physicist Wolfgang Pauli. Readings played to sell-out audiences in New York in 2022 and 2023 and the play was performed to critical acclaim at the White Bear Theatre in London in November 2024 and October 2025.
It was performed at the International Conference on Theatre About Science, Coimbra, Portugal, on October 24 2025. He is currently working on other plays revolving around science.
