American Hi Fi Biography
American Hi-Fi is an American pop/punk band that hail from Boston, Massachusetts and currently reside in Los Angeles. The band consists of vocalist Stacy Jones, guitarist Jamie Arentzen, bassist Drew Parsons, and drummer Brian Nolan. The band's musical style is a mix of punk, alternative rock, and power pop. The band's self-titled debut album arrived in 2001, and produced the hit single hit single “Flavor of the Weak.” The band embarked on tour in support of their album, and followed up with the live album “Rock N' Roll Noodle Shop: Live from Tokyo” in 2002 and their second studio album “The Art of Losing,” in 2003. Shortly thereafter the band were released from their record label and moved to Los Angles. 2005 marked the release of their third studio album, “Hearts on Parade,” followed by a tour of Japan and a five year hiatus. The band re-emerged in 2010 with a new album.
American Hi-Fi initially formed under the name BMX Girl and changed their name before their self-titled debut album on Island Records in 2001, which peaked at #81 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart and #1 on the Heatseekers Chart. The band's hit “Flavor of the Weak” enabled them to crossover to mainstream audiences and expose their music to a larger audience. As the band's success remained steady, Nolan quit to spend more time with his family and was replaced by Jason Sutter. 2005 saw the band sign with Maverick Records, however, the album was not a commercial hit in the U.S. and the label promptly dropped he band. The band took some time away from the music world to focus on other projects for the next five years. 2010 saw the band back in the limelight with “Fight The Frequency.” The band signed with Goomba Music and is currently working on a new album.

American Hi-Fi will make their long-awaited return to the UK with a special gig at London’s 100 Club on May 7. This special gig gives the Boston band the perfect opportunity to light the touchpaper on the release of their as-yet-untitled album. Recorded in 2013, the album is due for release later in the year and the 100 Club audience will be the first to hear a taste of it in addition to a setlist packed with classics such as Flavor Of The Weak, Another Perfect Day and The Art Of Losing.
