Mary N. Dillon is the CEO of Foot Locker and has been an influential figure in the world of business, with a career spanning decades at some of the most recognized companies in the United States. She served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Ulta Beauty, Inc. from 2013 until 2021, when she transitioned into the role of Chair. During her tenure at Ulta, she announced plans for the company to expand its business internationally, beginning with store openings in Canada. Prior to Ulta, Dillon held the position of Chief Executive Officer and President of United States Cellular Corporation from 2010 to 2013.
Her expansive career also includes a role as Global Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of McDonald's Corp. from 2005 to 2010, overseeing the company's worldwide marketing efforts and global brand strategy across 118 countries. She has been an Independent Director at Starbucks Corporation since 2016 and currently serves as a non-executive director of the company.
Dillon began her career in marketing for Quaker Oats in 1984, steadily rising through the ranks to hold several positions of increasing responsibility over the years. She has also held various positions at PepsiCo Corporation for approximately five years. With a strong foundation in marketing, she has served as Vice President of Marketing for several organizations, including Gatorade, Quaker Foods, and Gardenburger Company.
Beyond her business achievements, Dillon has made significant contributions to philanthropy, becoming a trustee of the Save the Children Federation in 2016. In recognition of her philanthropic leadership, she was awarded the prestigious Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award in October 2018. She also maintains involvement as a Board Member of non-profit organizations such as the Ounce of Prevention Fund, World Business Chicago, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and Loyola Academy.
Her leadership and influence have garnered notable recognition. Dillon was named one of Fortune's most powerful women in 2016, and in June 2019, she was named one of Barron's best CEOs. She was also named to Fortune's Business Person of the Year list in 2015. Dillon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Asian Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
