Daniel Jason Sudeikis was born in Fairfax, Virginia, on September 18, 1975. His mother, Kathryn, is the sister of Cheers actor George Wendt. At a young age, he moved with his family to Overland Park, Kansas, where Sudeikis attended Catholic schools. He is a fan of Kansas sports and occasionally references Kansas landmarks and local culture on "Saturday Night Live."
Jason Sudeikis began his career as a comedic performer at ComedySportz in Kansas City. He then moved to Chicago, where he studied improvisation and co-founded the group J.T.S. Brown. He later joined the famous Second City troupe as a touring cast member and was a founding member of Second City Las Vegas. During this period, Sudeikis auditioned for a spot in the long-running theatrical performance Blue Man Group, of which he remains a fan.
In 2003, Sudeikis began writing sketches for "Saturday Night Live," occasionally appearing onscreen as an extra or bit player. He became a featured performer on the show in the spring of 2005 and joined the regular cast in September 2006. Among his recurring roles was Mitt Romney, whom he played during the course of the 2012 presidential campaign. In the spring of 2013, unconfirmed rumors of Sudeikis's departure from the show began to circulate.
In addition to his work as part of the "Saturday Night Live" cast, Sudeikis has had a number of guest roles on television. He played Floyd DeBarber on the NBC series "30 Rock," opposite Tina Fey, between 2007 and 2010. He also had recurring roles on the shows "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Eastbound and Down."
Sudeikis has experience as a voice actor as well. In 2009, he joined the cast of the animated comedy series "The Cleveland Show," created by Seth MacFarlane. Sudeikis played two characters, Holt Richter and Terry Kimple, on the show until its cancelation in May 2013. His voice is also featured in the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV," in which he plays conservative radio host Richard Bastion.
While television and stage improvisation have been Sudeikis's primary formats to date, he has also made a number of appearances in feature films. In 2008, he acted opposite Cameron Diaz in the 2008 comedy "What Happens in Vegas." He also appeared in the 2010 film "The Bounty Hunter," playing a love-struck colleague of the character played by Jennifer Aniston. Sudeikis and Aniston acted together again the 2011 comedy "Horrible Bosses," along with Charlie Day and Jason Bateman. The same year, Sudeikis clinched his first starring role in the Farrelly brothers movie "Hall Pass." Most recently, he is set to star in 2016's star studded comedy, "Mother's Day."
Sudeikis has been married and divorced once. In 2004, he married actress and 30 Rock writer Kay Cannon after a lengthy relationship. The couple separated in 2008 and divorced in 2010. After his divorce, Sudeikis dated actress January Jones, whom he met when she hosted Saturday Night Live. In 2011, he began dating actress Olivia Wilde. The couple announced their engagement in the winter of 2013. Wilde gave birth to their first child on April 20, 2014. She announced the couple's baby news in tweet: "Ladies and gentlemen, Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building! (I'm the building).”
