Janice Dean Biography
Janice Dean, a weather presenter, serves as senior meteorologist for FOX News Channel (FNC) and is the morning meteorologist for FNC’s "FOX & Friends." She began her tenure with the network in January 2004 and has since covered numerous devastating storms such as Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Sandy, Irene, Igor, Earl, and Katrina. Prior to her broadcasting career, Dean worked as a Canadian bylaw enforcement officer and has worked at several radio and television stations in both Canada and the United States, including CHEZ-FM and WCBS-TV.
In addition to her role at FNC, Dean is an author, having written a series of children's books titled “Freddy the Frogcaster” aimed at teaching children about weather. She also authored two other books, "Mostly Sunny: How I Learned to Keep Smiling Through the Rainiest Days," published in 2019, and "Make Your Own Sunshine: Inspiring Stories of People Who Find Light in Dark Times," released in 2021. Notably, Dean donated all of the earnings from her children's book to Team Rubicon, an organization dedicated to providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters.
Before her time at FNC, Dean was the news editor and entertainment reporter for "Imus in the Morning," which aired on WFAN-AM New York and was also simulcast nationally on MSNBC. In her early broadcasting career, Dean hosted various radio programs in Houston, Texas, including Metro Networks, KODA-FM, KKBQ-FM, and KLDE-FM. She also served as an on-camera weather host at CBOT Television in 1997. Notably, she has been a critic of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the lack of media coverage about the policy regarding nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dean holds an honors diploma from Algonquin College in Radio & Television Broadcasting and was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 2009. She has been living with multiple sclerosis since 2005. Born in 1970 in Toronto, Canada, Dean now resides in New York City with her husband Sean Newman and their two sons.
