Gina Rodriguez is an award-winning actress, producer, director, model, and humanitarian.
She is best known for her role as Jane Villanueva in The CW comedy-drama series Jane The Virgin, for which she has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy, and won in 2015. Season four of Jane the Virgin featured Rodriguez's directorial debut, and the show concluded after its fifth season in 2019.
Her film credits include Deepwater Horizon, and the animated films The Star and Ferdinand, which both received Golden Globe nominations this year for Best Original Song. In 2019, her stardom only continued to grow, and she starred in Catherine Hardwicke's Miss Bala and Netflix's Someone Great. She has also appeared on popular television shows such as Big Mouth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and voiced the titular character in Carmen Sandiego.
With her producing partner Emily Gipson, Gina recently launched I CAN AND I WILL PRODUCTIONS, which is committed to promoting diverse culture on the screen, and has already sold multiple projects in an overall deal with CBS Television Studios.
Rodriguez has been honored by Unite 4:Humanity with the Young Humanitarian Award for her philanthropic efforts. This includes establishing the We Will Foundation to provide funding for young women in the arts, joining the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Board of Directors, and working with the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, NCLR, CHCI, NALIP, and Voto Latino.
